Tea is what we’re known for, with a huge range of our own loose leaf teas served properly in a pot, but we’re just as serious about good brunch, great coffee, homemade cakes and the occasional cocktail.
We’re set across two floors, with our range of teas to take home on the ground floor and a bright dining space upstairs that’s perfect for catching up with friends, getting some work done or escaping the city for an hour or two.
Alongside our everyday café, we host weddings, parties, baby showers, corporate events and all sorts of celebrations.
We’re an independent business with a lovely team, good food, great tea and a gorgeous converted factory we’re very proud of.

Do I need to book?
Booking is recommended, especially at weekends and during school holidays. We always keep space available for walk-ins where possible. Pop an email to sheffield@birdhouseteacompany.com
Where can I find you?
We’re located in Sheffield’s Industrial Quarter, around a five minute walk from Sheffield Train Station and just a couple of minutes from The Moor. S1 4RG on your Sat Nav will bring you straight here.
Is there parking nearby?
Yes. There are several city centre car parks within a short walk of Birdhouse, including NCP and Q-Park options nearby. There is also paid street parking outside. Unfortunately, we don’t have our own designated car park.
Are dogs allowed?
Encouraged! Well behaved dogs (and owners!) are welcome in our downstairs area of the café. If you’re planning to visit with your dog, please mention when booking.
Do you have vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free options?
Yes. We always have a range of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options available. If you have any allergies or dietary requirements, please speak to a member of the team before ordering. Most of our dishes are purposefully made in order to tweak for dietary requirements and allergies, and everything is created very carefully in order to keep you safe.
Do you serve alcohol?
We do. Alongside our teas, coffees and soft drinks, we serve cocktails, local beers, wines and spirits.
Do you serve afternoon tea?
Yes. Afternoon tea is available by pre-booking. Currently we serve weekends from 3pm for parties 10+, or as part of venue hire in a buffet format.
Can I buy tea to take home?
Absolutely! Our retail section is stocked with loose leaf teas, tea gifts and products from independent producers.
Can I work from Birdhouse?
You’re welcome to bring your laptop and enjoy a coffee or tea while you work. During our busiest periods we may ask guests to be mindful of how long tables are occupied. Our usual sittings are 90 minutes.
Is Birdhouse family friendly?
Definitely. Families are always welcome, and we have children’s menu options available. We also have a range of complimentary nappies and wipes in our baby change, just incase you’ve forgotten something during your visit.
Can I hire Birdhouse for a private event?
Yes. We host weddings, baby showers, birthdays, corporate events, celebrations and private parties. Get in touch and we’ll be happy to chat through the options.
Is Birdhouse accessible?
As our building is set across two floors, we’ve purposefully created a ground floor space that is accessible. This includes an accessible WC and adequate spacing for doorways, walkways and tables. If you have specific accessibility requirements, please contact us before your visit and we’ll be happy to advise.
Do you sell gift vouchers?
Gift vouchers are available and can be bought online or over the counter. They’re valid for 12 months.
Do you cater for large groups?
Yes. We welcome larger bookings, although advance notice is always appreciated so we can make sure everything is ready for your visit. During peak service, table numbers are usually capped at 6 guests. We encourage you to pop an email over however and we’ll see what we can do for you.
Do I need to like tea to visit?
Not at all! While tea is at the heart of what we do, we also serve speciality coffee, hot chocolate, cocktails, brunch, lunch and plenty of cake. And you may even leave as a convert! 🥰
